The dental veneers process takes two appointments to complete. During the first, we’ll need to prepare your teeth by trimming the outer enamel by about 0.5mm. This ensures your veneers fit seamlessly over your smile without any bulkiness or problems. Once your teeth are the right size, our cosmetic dentists will create an impression of your teeth, which we will send to a lab for your porcelain veneers to be made. It takes about a week or two for them to be ready, so we’ll outfit you with temporary veneers in the meantime. You’ll come in for your second appointment once your permanent veneers are made. During this visit, we’ll switch your temporary veneers out, thoroughly cleaning your teeth below and lightly using a grinding tool to make your enamel rougher. A rougher surface lets us better bond your new veneers securely in place with dental cement. We’ll examine the fit and trimming, making any adjustments as necessary to ensure your new teeth look and feel great. From there, you can leave our office with a beautiful new smile you can’t wait to show off! At Nu Dentistry Cypress, we also have non-prep veneers that let you skip the tooth trimming process entirely. These special veneers are thinner than traditional porcelain ones and can be fixed directly on your teeth after polishing and cleaning.
