WHAT IS A DENTAL EMERGENCY?

NU DENTISTRY MAKES SURE YOU NEVER PUT OFF A NECESSARY PROCEDURE

Oral sensitivity

Minor sensitivity can be treated at a regular appointment, but a sudden onset of severe sensitivity could indicate infection.

Severe tooth, gum, or jaw pain

Acute pain is usually an indicator of a multitude of dental problems. Toothaches are an indication of infection, especially when they are accompanied by a fever, earache, or pressure.

These injuries require immediate attention to avoid infection. Jagged teeth edges can also cause mouth sores and abrasions.

Knocked out tooth

Treatment for lost teeth should start as soon as possible. Gather as many pieces as you can and only ever pick up the tooth by the crown, never the root, to give it the best chance of surviving.

Adults with loose teeth typically have either a cavity or an infection.

Tooth abscess

A tooth will expand and produce an abscess, which is a pus-filled pocket, when a tooth infection gets bad enough. If left untreated, they can become quite serious and spread to other parts of your jaw, head, and neck.

If you’re in extreme pain and know you have tooth decay or a cavity, please call our office so we can halt or treat any possible infections.

Excessive bleeding gums

It's normal to see some blood after flossing or a dental exam. However, it can indicate gingivitis or an early stage of periodontal disease. If your gums continue to bleed, this can be a sign of a serious injury or advanced gum disease.

Do I Need a Tooth Extraction?

We make sure you're always prepared, even with serious procedures

Although we try to save your teeth at Nu Dentistry, it isn't always possible. Treatments like fillings, root canals, and routine deep cleanings may not be enough to save a tooth that has rotted too much or cracked too badly. Other times, crowded or additional teeth prevent teeth from erupting while maintaining the alignment of your arch. The best course of action in situations like these is to have the tooth pulled in order to safeguard the neighboring teeth and bone. A simple extraction and a surgical extraction are the two different types of extractions. For teeth that are visible above the gum line, simple extractions can be performed by using an elevator tool to loosen the tooth and forceps to remove it.

When a tooth is fractured below the gum line or fails to emerge from the gums, surgery is used to remove it. For complete removal of the submerged tooth in this type, a gum incision is necessary. Our dentists ensure that your operation is essentially painless, despite the fact that it could initially seem intimidating. To ensure that you're always comfortable during your treatment, we provide a variety of anesthetic and sedative choices. We provide a variety of therapies, including bridges, dentures, and implants, that can help close the gap and replace your missing tooth. We want to make sure your grin always makes you happy.

Painful Problems Don't Have To Mean Painful Solutions

Gum Disease

Gum disease is a dangerous ailment that can result in tooth loss and other medical issues. Even though it is frequently painless in the beginning, gum disease can advance swiftly and cause significant harm. Fortunately, dental professionals can offer care that can slow the spread of gum disease and assist in restoring oral health. But early detection of the problem is crucial, thus regular dental visits are crucial.

Dental Emergency Questions

A cracked tooth is only an emergency if it is extremely painful. Pain can be a sign that the inside is damaged and the tooth fractured. If a tooth is fractured badly enough, it may not be salvageable. If these symptoms apply to you, please contact us immediately.

A dentist must pull the tooth to stop the spread of infection. A tooth might also need extraction if teeth are overcrowded or incoming teeth are impacted and unable to emerge. Overcrowding often happens with incoming wisdom teeth.

Gingivitis occurs when plaque and tartar build-up around and under the gums, causing infection. Depending on the severity, treatment will include a regular dental cleaning or deep cleaning. A deep cleaning involves scaling teeth clean both above and below the gumline, respectively, of hardened build-up. Periodontal disease must be treated with deep cleaning.

While only local anesthesia is necessary when performing a root canal, you can opt for sedation with the procedure on request. Our fully trained dentists can sedate you during the procedure, either with oral conscious sedation or IV sedation. For anxious patients, this can soothe nervousness and give the best possible treatment experience.

We always do our best to save our patients’ teeth because natural teeth are stronger and keep their neighbors from shifting. Keeping those teeth will save a lot of time, discomfort, and money in the long run. However, there are times when a tooth has fractured or decayed past the point of saving, even with a root canal, and an extraction is necessary.

Wisdom teeth are often extracted when they either don’t fully emerge from the gum or if they stay fully submerged. Keeping your wisdom teeth in these circumstances can lead to infection or the development of oral cysts, which can damage your gums and bone.

The Best Dentist In Cypress, Texas
Sandra Archuleta

We have been looking for a family dentist for a long time, we have tried a bunch of places but nothing felt quite like home. Not too long ago we stumbled upon Nu Dentistry and met Dr. Ali. Not only was he professional, kind, and gentle, but he always finds a way to fit us in when we need an appointment. He’s also pretty funny! I appreciate that he takes the time to explain what he’s doing, before he does it. That really puts me at ease.
